Trivia: If my husband would have taken his father’s surname as his surname, then he would have been Chris Pan, which I usually joke to him that what if he would have been named as Peter? Get it? Hehe, then I would be his Wendy…

Anyway,
I should have thought of naming as Lolita in Wonderland, because of the Alice vibe the outfit exudes, yet I already named one of my posts as that… so I thought of another story that I also liked. Louisa May Alcott’s The Secret garden and Peter Pan. My husband’s impression of this outfit and picture, is that my expression’s like of a little girl. It’s a good sign because that’s what I really intend when I thought of this outfit. Lolita, yet expressed in a subtle way.
Despite the controversial fact where this fashion subculture or genre was based from, Lolita has a huge following not only in Japan but all over the world, otaku (anime fans) and non-otakus alike. Lolita, is usually gothic yet childlike. Think of Victorian children, the baroque and rococo. Even as a subculture, it has it’s own subcultures classified and emerging as well. With this outfit, it conveys the Sweet Lolita genre, wherein it’s the happy counterpart of gothic Lolita where it’s usually somber, dark, and mysterious. In some ways it’s like the Vaudeville. Frou Frou dress, bow-ties, ribbons, laces, pearls, floral or paisley printed cloths, and stuff toys in pinks, whites and pastels are everything and anything that comprises this look.
For me, I channel this look without going overboard and wearing the whole Sweet Lolita outfit in full rage, I just used what I already have or found, and to cap this look…I made the denim with lace trimmings ribboned headband that’s immensely huge, that screams out Sweet Lolita in a hushed voice.
The light pink long-sleeved is a piece of clothing that I usually wear at home, especially during cold weather that my aunt gave to me before. While the green dress is a thrift shop find that I bought during the time I was pregnant, because that time, It’s a hassle for me to wear pants of course, and dresses are always a quick fashion solution for anyone.
