If there’s one place in Japan that I would really love to vist and take photos, it’s gonna be Harajuku. Not because of the scenery but of the people in the streets there. And it’s gonna be like I’m Alice lost in a fashion wonderland. Everyday seems to be like cosplay day. Though other people might think they are too theatrical and silly, for me, I consider them brave. Brave for breaking the rules of fashion that we all know. They just put whatever looks good in the eye. And it seems like they always bring to life the character we all know and love. At this moment, I’m thinking about their place, and if they’ve been affected by the quake that strck Japan… I hope they’re all ok.
With this outfit, I thought of computer games and Japanese Anime. Usually the female game characters exude a cool and sassy personality yet quirkily cute. With my fascination for kitty ears (the costume ones), I decided to sew my own kitty ears headband. With the animal print scrap cloth I have, some tulle and pearls and hot glue gun at hand, I finished the headband in just a few hours for one day. Though, the sewing of the headband’s cloth took some days because I just find it hard then to sew using my portable sewing machine. Now, I’m selling it at my facebook store. I also sell it in my garage sale. I believe kitty ears can really make any outfit totally kawaii. What do you think?
As for the pink wool vest, the reason I bought it from a thrift store because…aside from it’s very cheap price, it’s the dream vest I’ve been looking for such a long time. Those were the days when I’m taking breakdance classes in BF Paranaque (Stomp), and wearing this gives me this cool aura of a hiphop dancer’s. When I bought it, I remembered my best girl pal Laine got a bit annoyed because I was late then for our group project. Hehe, I guess, I was just really fazed with this piece of clothing. I don’t know but I really do get attached to everything I buy and own, but now just like with the others, I have to say sayonara to them, and say hello to new clothes and money as well.
As for the black tee that I wore inside the pink vest, my classmate in high school named Lena (she was Ms. NCAA and the ubiquitous university muse when we went to college but back then in high school, she was one of the really pretty and kind girls then), lent me this. Actually, this was hers and at that time I didn’t have a black tee to wear for our school’s speech choir competition, after that she told me it’s mine… and it became my fave tee then because it really fitted me, until now… when I gained weight after post-pregnancy.
For the sporty blue long skirt, my godmother ( my mom’s sister) gave it to me. I think they work in the clothing business that’s why they get to have clothes as freebies. I don’t know but my memories of wearing this is in high school, the usual comments I got are “Thrasher girl”. And as the years went by, I was famously known as the “Punk queen” of High School…due to my grungy clothes and lifestyle as well. I guess, it just reflects my teen angsts at that time, but I guess it worked well for me in a cool way, because I was like “The Untouchable” one during my school days.:)
